Re: mid plate problem plz help!!
gonna have to trim it, wont be much left worth mounting after your done. I'd weld a tab on the plate in a different spot. i even like to put a tap on the top and run spacers through the firewall, tie it into the rollcage............damn stout that way...lets the midplate do its job and distribute the power to the chassis.
In the process of doing this on our smallblock fox mustang, should be able to get some progress pics by the weekend.

I think you're gonna have to make a new mid plate. Should look similar to this

I trimmed mine to fit the headers first and then the chassis. Actually I made a cardboard template and trimmed it FIRST then transfered it over to the metal plate and then cut/trim...

It started out as a midplate from Bob at D&D but it's a "trim to fit deal" and is one big square with the holes already cut to fit the bolts and dowel pins.

we ran the same set up and had to do the same thing, tried 3 different plates before we got it right, the mid plate was the toughest part of the swapD. Sea wrote:Big block fox 339 wrote:Thanks that looks good what kind of plate did you cut that out of how thick Just regular sheet metal ?

Why not just utilize the plate you have & cut the passenger-side ear off & re-locate it? That way you retain the bolt & dowel pin holes, and can put the mount holes/tab where you need them..
Just thinking outside the cashbox

Re: mid plate problem plz help!!
I have "L" type brackets that attache to the frame and then bolt to the midplate. Sorry, don't have pictures of those brackets.

Re: mid plate problem plz help!!
Good picture Nick,
If you guys look really close, you can see the brackets that are bolted THROUGH the frame. One day while Bill was over helping with the anti-roll bar, he tig welded some nuts on the backside of the brackets. Makes installation MUCH easier
Edit:
339,
You may have to trim a little bit more on the drivers side to clear the steering shaft. You won't know until you get it test fitted in the car.
