We worked in the shop today, in fact Chuck and Eddie dropped the rear from his old car last yesterday. We disassembled the rearend and it has 31 spline axles (Strange), Strange spool and a chipped tooth on the ring gear. That's in a Nodular case of course. Anyway, it looks like we are going to sale the rear (Heavy duty housing) from drum to drum and the center section. Then use that money to build a new rear with an aftermarket center section and 35 spline axles.

Also measured for the engine plates and Chuck will pick up the aluminum in the next few days so we can cut and build the plates. Need a 37" X 12" plate for the front and a 24" X 12" plate for the midplate. Typically one would use a .090" steel midplate however in this instance, Chuck already had a .250" aluminum 'spacer' between the Bell and the Block for converter clearance. So we will just build a mid-plate from .25" aluminum. Fortunately Bill thinks ahead and we already have bolt holes in the tubes at the firewall that are for the mid plate

We also removed some pieces from the old car like tail lights, rear bumper and a few other odds & ends.

Tomorrow we will move Chuck's old car from the shop out in the auto graveyard behind the shop to keep all the trucks company. Or Tracy suggested we could bring it to our house and plant flowers in the car

As I type, Tracy just finished off a Peanut Buster Parfait from Dairy Queen.

Also tomorrow, we plan on placing the rear tires under the car and measure for the new rear and start trimming the quarter interior for the wheel tubs.

This week Chuck will also deliver the chassis to the powder coater in Harrodsburg (I think that's where it is). He got a smokin' deal quote on powdercoating the entire chassis.

Anyway, we are starting to make some progress and I'll get some pictures up in a few days.

Chuck will get some 0.250" Aluminum so we can make the engine plates and he may have the chassis powdercoated this week.

We pulled the rear out and took it apart. It will be for sale along with the ladder bars, I need to post it in the classifieds and racing junk.

The new car looks good sitting on the ground with the back wheels under it.I see all your snow has melted still have quite a bit on the ground here but the rain melted some today.Keep the pictures coming,it was nice enough Sunday that i washed my truck and started and ran my Mustang for a bit.
