35 spline spool, 9" ford

Post  the1969fordguyinky on February 8th 2010, 12:14 pm

I'm looking to get a 2nd hoghead (3rd member) for the car put together. I have a stock case to assemble it in so I really need a 35 spline spool (or dirt cheap locker) and some 4.56 or so gears.

brand of spool your looking for ? Mark williams is the only 35 spline that fits stock case , i have a used MW --$130 . note: MW spools only fit their axles . Strange and others require 2 1/4 case . have Stange case and 35 spl spool $400 for both and are new

No preference on the brand...
I currently have a 35 spline set up in the car, but I got the entire rear end as an assembly. All I did was change the gear out.
I'll have to see what axles are in it.
Thanks for the response!

i am not for sure but a 35 slpine spool will only fit in a 3.250 case unless you get the chopped version which will fit in a 3.060 case but it is not near as strong as the 3.250....

if you got a 3.250 case it's aftermarket-- MW/Moser/Strange/HR/FRPP. no stock 9"cases came with 3 1/4 bearings , should take whatever you can throw at it.

my mistake... I have a factory case.. with the larger 3.063 side bearings. as opposed to the smaller 2.892 size

even the Ford N case can't take it for long , if used with a trans brake . seen the N case brake at the wrong time , only Ford in a 16 car show
