Been back to the track(unfortunately only once a year) and attacked things a little differently this time. Ran set up straight from the street as I cruise on the weekends(air cleaner, full exhaust, street radials). Ran 10.86@126 and won the final of the bracket.

Hard to say. I put them on (they were sitting in a mates shed doing nothing) and set them up as per instructions and went racing. Car seemed to launch the same as it did with previous set up. Aussie Falcon GT's came with factory radius rods which were giving similar lift/traction.Dave C. wrote:How do you like the CalTracs ?
I didn't have time to make any adjustments, and I haven't run the car with only springs alone.
This is with the radius rods.

Thanks pro64. The cam does a good job, haven't had any other roller before. Car sees more cruising and day trips than the track and performs well on the street. Originally had 3.5:1 gears but cruising revs were a bit low so now runs smoother with 3.89's.pro64 wrote:hey nice car sounds great . i was wondering if your still running that same camxr 292,if so how do you like it.
10.91 falcon
i have installed that cam in my present build,502 p51 heads 1150 dominator . dropping that in a 64 comet. will be used mostly on the street so what your telling me sounds like good streetability and good track too judging by your 10.91 at 3900 lbs. im thinking im going to be around 3400 lbs that should get me closer to my goal uv a 9.90 streetcar. any way enough of my yapping peace....

I keep an eye on the roller lifters and will soon have another set to do change overs with in between rebuilds.

sounds great... what seems to be the issue with the roller lifters that need changing, or is that the norm............

Update
Just had a good weekend away at the track, result was a PB of 10.68 @ 127.
That's the good news after getting the car home and off the trailer checked fluids and found oil and water mixed so after engine out found this in no.8
And found the cause of a long term plug fouling problem in no.8 also

After an inspection of of the parts as it was pulled apart a quick wash with some solvent and now time to start planing to make it better/stronger/faster!

Yeah got that to, oil ring has been a problem since last rebuild, it was the hole in the bore that hastened the tear down.
new block
I always go the extra nothing worse than doing a job and it not being enough, and having to tear down again would stink.... how long was the motor together before this happened.....

4 1/2 years. Each year a couple of days drag racing and some weekend motorsport events. Just a bit pissed that something undetectable like this has occurred.
Re: New PB 10.47@133 545ci 3900lb Aussie Falcon GT 12/06/16
yea you are rite it does suck, but look at it this way it could have been totaled and cost you a lot more. whats the bore on the cylinders at now.

Re: New PB 10.47@133 545ci 3900lb Aussie Falcon GT 12/06/16
Yeah could have been worse, as it was I think the trans dying on the last run I did saved me from disaster. It's at 30 now. I'm working out the cost of resleeving all 8 V's new block. Don't want the thought of another bore having the same problem laying in my head.
sleeve
wow 30 that's not very much block could be thin in a couple spots, good Idea doing all 8. makes me wonder about mine I will say this you don't here of this that often usually the blocks are good. is it a d1ve block.. car looks and sounds great im sure you will get it together.

Re: New PB 10.47@133 545ci 3900lb Aussie Falcon GT 12/06/16
It's a D1VE block. I'm wondering whether due to the long term oil ring problem if there was a detonation problem that could have caused it?
