Re: Converter bad?? **(More money=more problems...LOL)**
Well I'm glad to say I finally figured this thing out. What do ya know it was the last thing I checked
It wasn't the converter, tranny, ignition box, coil, wires, plug....you get the idea!!! After checking the timing under the load of the converter it was obvious that timing was retarding once the motor reached about 4k Rpms. And retarding a lot!!! Pulled the cover off and replaced the timing set and cam retainer, put it all back together and it wanted to still retard a about 6-8 degrees. Went ahead and took it to the track and ran a personal best of 6.18@113mph with a lousy 1.400 60'.
Pulled it back apart this week and actually checked the cam end play. Even with the new timing set I had .054 of end play. Made a handy dandy new spacer and got it down to .009. We shall see Saturday if she flies. Also made a gear change this week, going from 5.00's to 4.30's. Even being down on power I couldn't keep from spinning and shaking the tires the first 100' or so. This has been a long drawn out ordeal and I'm glad it's getting somewhere finally.

glad to hear Brian, I predict a 5.80 with minimal tire spin
