What is the approximate lowest compression ratio where alcohol (methanol) is practical? is 12.5:1 too low?

People Run E85 on 9:1 motors all the time. Its just below what the fuel can be used for.

But are you guys running the alcohol through a carb or injected? I've always been told that running alcohol through a carb with lower compression really doesn't gain much. It's the alcohol injection setups that really make the best use. I have no clue if this is correct or not, just what I heard, so if I'm wrong please school me

on the lower comp stuff we used carbs, bigger gains were had.
