For the guys that use one:

Do you use washers under the flexplate to crank bolt heads?  Never used them with a steel plate, this alumnium seems to be very hard, but I don't want to gall it up when I tighten the bolts.  Without washers my ARP flexplate bolts go through the plate about 7/16".

Same question for the converter nuts/bolts.  On the engine side where the nuts for the converter sit, the flexplate is milled out to about 1/2 thickness so the nut sits down in a recess.  Washer or no?[/quot

CALL CSR AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY

You always use Washers under nuts and bolts, they are there for a reason they cushion the bolts and keep them from breakage

In certain applications you need washers but saying you always need washers under nuts and bolts is not true. Washers don't cushion bolts and keep them from breaking either. If that was true wouldn't we be losing rod bolts all the time? Not saying in this instance that washers are not needed, but saying they are ALWAYS needed is not true.

DGS, your post may have fallen on deaf ears. Wink

Just an update.  Talked to CSR.

No washers on bolts that hold flexplate to the crank.   They advise to use ARP #200-2902.  ARP also says not to use washers with this bolts.  Loctite on the threads and assembly lube under the head.  Torque is 85 ft/lb.  Already had a set of these bolts and used them with my JW Wheels.

CSR said to use washers on the opposite side under the converter nut/bolt.  There is a recess machined into the flexplate that is sized that an 7/8" OD ARP 200-8532 washer snaps into place.  The washer reinforces the flexplate and makes it "think" (their word) that the torque converter bolt is 7/8"

I have one but haven't fired the engine in the car yet so no idea how it'll hold up, but it is well made. My only complaint is I wish the SFI sticker was on the other side so tech could see it easily.

CSR is so close to going out of business, I'm not even sure Trump can save them.

Why do you say that?

After Daryl Goza quit machining their stuff, they've had a hard time finding someone that could build quality and uphold standards.

Gotcha. What are some other options then? I'm not going to spend money if replacement parts for this thing are obsolete...

Goza quit a long time ago. These are probably made somewhere overseas.
