Hello. Long-time BB Ford enthusiast. Recently completed a build on a relatively mild 460 w/ compression ratio at or below 10:1. Experiencing hard starting, especially after engine reaches operating temperature. After cooling, engine will once again sart as normal. Any suggestions? Thanks! RWA

Hot/hard starting issues w/ 460
Been down both roads. It may come down to a matter of timimng. Have high torque starter w/ blanket. Big tube headrers are radiaiting a lot of heat. I've not experienced a case of hard restart this severe, except in higher compresion motors; 11.5:1 and above. This motor was built to be a "nitrous baby" w/ .180 dished TRW (now Speed Pro) forged pistons. I'm thinking it ought to perform w/ reasonable manners on 93 octane pump gas. I appreciate your thoughts.

imo a 460 w/healthy starter will not need a heat shield like a Chevrolet. I would say you have a weak starter or too muck timing.
