Newbie with a 472...

Post  72BlackonBlack on July 28th 2011, 8:02 am

Hey, my name is Matt and I'm a relative newbie to BBFs... I have a 72 Ford Torino and a 472 with worked C9 heads that I am planning on installing as soon as I get my motor mount kit and headers from Crites (should be sometime within the next month)... I have a set of bare Kaase SCJ heads, But I might stick with the C9's depending on how they drive. Plus I've been thinking about getting a GearVendors overdrive unit, as I would like to drive this as frequently as I can.

(I have a new front bumper as the one in the pic is twisted a little, plus the water under the car was from someone else...)

Yeah, hopefully the 472 will lower the front end a little bit more than the current 302, so the stance should be a bit better. I fully rebuilt the front suspension a year and a half ago using all polyurethane parts and 500lb. springs, so hopefully, the BB will lower it about 1 1/2in, then the wheel wells will be sitting right over the top of the front tires.

And unfortunately, those are Mopar steelies. I have been looking around for a set of decent Ford steelies, but I cannot find them in good condition anywhere! Ironically, I had a set of TTII's on there, but I really prefer the simple blacked out look compared to the bling.
