5.4 broken plug

anyone had a 5.4l triton motor break a plug off in the head? Its a ford problem! Do they come out using the special tool or do i remove the head?

heard that most times they will come out with the tool..also read many many times the correct way to do it without breaking the plug..but you need to be able to let truck sit for a few days... pull the wires off and pour rubbing alcohol into each plug well and let it sit for a while..then repeat this a few times...then use a impact to bust them loose...

7 out of 8 came out and of course the one that is hardest to reach broke, time for a 460 swap!

the special tool will work just fine we have done a bunch of these, just keep it lubed up real good. good luck. todd

and put one peice plugs back in it if you feel there is a chance that you will be doing the next set of plugs a 100k from now....

X2 on the one piece spark plugs, yes the special tools will get them out . Been there done that several times.

Poor ass design by Ford! Happens a lot, extreme cases the head comes off.

Well $200.00 to remove 2 broken plugs, now i can stop swearing at ford and figure out how fast i can sell the truck. I cant complain about the cost to remove the plugs but i shouldnt have to pay for a ford screw up

They might make the better replacement plugs but you still have to get the factory ones out.............serious FAIL on the engineer's part on this one.............and a lot others.

They should just make disposable vehicles for like 100th the cost......no damn bluetooth sync bullshit just a cheap ass form of transportation and when it breaks throw it in the trash and get a fresh one out of the carton lol.

they quit making sunfire's and neon's a few years back

X2 they alway saying cell phones and texing are the reason for a bunch of wrecks never caused by all the crap they put in them for you to playing be with while you drive or trying to read the gps not paying attention where you going or what happening around you
