Poor 'bird

Post  Hangman on August 12th 2011, 10:32 pm

Went to the scrap yard today and saw a car I forgot all about. '87 T-Bird Turbo Coupe. Kind of sad to see a car like this sitting rotting away.

I looked over the car (still on tires) and it was almost rust-free. Just a little around the rear wheel wells and a bit in the bottom back of the jambs. Almost bought it, but the problem of all the missing parts makes it not worth it. Doors, front clip, interior, hood, a lot was gone. I could imagine it all painted up with a BBF going down the street or maybe the track.
It's too bad as the 'Birds have always had a place in my heart. Sorry to say, it'll rot in that spot until crushed. Sad

I bought a brand new one identical to that one, black, moonroof, charcoal and silver cloth. Loved that car.

I have had 2 of them, 87 had 183,000 miles on it and for a 4cyl it was a runner, and I still have a Blk 88 with 61,000 miles. I really like these cars.

Those pics are sad, however such is the life of most automobiles.
I've owned over 17 of those 87-88 turbo Coupes.
I only have 2 left.

My favorite: (460 powered of course)

My 67K mile all original 87 automatic : (except for the wheels)

The one I had was the Burgundy just like that one. Loved it. Wish I never got rid of it. Had an '86 that was a great car too and wish I had that one too.

These are kind of like the early '80's Capris(Only had one of those, but it was too far gone to do anything with.), beautiful cars and getting harder and harder to find in nice shape.

I wander what happened to the rearend out of it since the Turbo Coupe cars had Disc Brakes on them and that one has drums?I had a 466 in a 88 T-Bird until the chassis started rotting pretty bad,i wish i could have found another decent one.I really liked that car but finding a nice one in Northeast,Ohio is pretty hard so i bought a 89 Mustang Coupe.

Later Mark.

A girl I used to date owned a silver Turbo coupe. She wrecked it after we broke up. It was a cool car.
