bracket engine build?

Post  waypastcrazy on August 27th 2011, 6:01 pm

I am interested in putting together a street strip bracket car.
I would like it to be low maintenence and dependable.
I would also like to run it in footbrake class at my local 1/8 mile track.
I would also like to run it in our tnt nights 8.0 heads up race we have from time to time.
This is what i have to work with.
1.1990 mustang gt full interior
2.1971 429 complete stock engin
3.pa performance c4 trans and bell
4.an assortment of 8.8 gears
5.850 dp Carb
6.hooker swap headers and mounts
7.moroso swap pan
8.I have some D3ve and dove head
9.Hs 1.7 roller rockers
My question is what route to take on the engine build to acheive my 8.0 index i want?
deck block, cam, intake,n e port work etc etc? Did i give eough detailsThx in advance Clyde

My Ranger when I orginal built it my 460 was a stock 89 model d9 short block out of a E350 van I put dove heads with my home porting on the exhuast.xe274h comp cam,2'' custom headers I made, FMS G429, holley 850 dp,c6 tran with B&M shift kit with a 3000 stall, and 9'' rear with 4.88 gears.Truck is 3265 with me in it a ran 7.60s in the 1/8 if that helps any the engine could have been driven in a dayly driver with no problem but trying to pass a gas station.
