A .170" backcut .043" with top gas ports in the piston, 1/16" Napier second with whatever thickness oil ring you want to use as long as the tension is right without an air pump or right with an air pump depending upon what you have.

I got lost on that. Guess im gonna have to do some more research. But the pistons have gas ports and uses a support rail. Plus, what makes a motor a nos motor and what makes a motor an n/a motor.
Thanks again

If you already HAVE the pistons then use whatever fits; you really have no choice of sizes.

A nitrous motor is built so it NEEDS nitrous to run its best.

Ok, i think what really got me in ? about this motor is that i havent bought new rings yet for these new pistons and the cam i have is i guess whats called a nos cam. I understand i can run this n/a but what style ring should i get for n/a, gapless or regular? And which for 250 shot of nos, gapless or regular or some special other kind?
Since im not a grudge racer, here's the combo. 580ci, ablock, 4.5, 6.8, ahead, 14:1 diamond gas ports, The cam is 839/780 lift, 283/302@.050, 316/348 adv. 114 L/S, 114 C/L. 3000lb car, c6, 3.73, 28's.
Im wanting to make sure im satisfied with cam and rings before have my block machined.
Thanks

In my opinion, the only type engine which "gapless" rings are good for is the engine in the family vehicle that goes to the grocery store and mostly never gets up to normal running temperature to make a bunch of short trips.

I'd get a different camshaft.

The other day you posted the cam as 306* @ .050" on the exh. I now see that it it is 302*. Install the cam advanced to 110*-111* and run it.
You will have to install a correct converter.....that 4500-5500 thing you mentioned will not cut it.
