who has the "Magic Heads"

Post  Larry T on November 28th 2011, 1:25 am

the Duck on yb is wineing that the bbf & bbc conventional heads are now flowing over 500cfm and takeing over the x275 radial classes previously dominated by the sb.the word is they are running low 4.7d's and the sb's are about maxed out with the current head rules.this is with 1 nos system plate or fogger no progressive etc.

the bbf a460 heads are what has been mentioned the most at 500 or above cfm.is any one here getting that kind of flow from the A heads?i read were blakes p51's have 425-430 cfm is this the max that can be achieved?

i have been watching these classes for a while now and seeing the bb stuff making a showing.team Z has had a hand in helping them get their suspension dialed in with a low 1.xx 60ft.

if the a460 cylinder head was "THE" head you had to use in your class and money was no object , achieving over 500 cfm would be attainable

The "A" heads from IDT will get to that air flow rather consistently. However, you will need to use almost an inch of valve lift.

You're not going to get anywhere near the "A" head with a P-51. However their best airflow is NOT above .750" valve lift.

they just can't take the amount of nitrous and live very long. the 10 head bolts don't help much either. big blocks are the only way to go in a head limited class.

rfd has several 24* heads that flow over 500 ......... but there are only 2-3 companies that advertise those numbers , but i assure yall that all the heavy hitters are flowing well over 500 cfm on ther " conventional heads "

and i have no doubt in my mind that if i gave Evans 10 stacks and a set of tfs a heads that it could be done Wink

10 stacks for a set of heads to throw on a bicycle tire...what a joke... Fun to watch though.
