Fox body oil pan?

Post  soupbean on December 7th 2011, 1:39 pm

I bought a Canton 15-770 oil pan for my 557 and after beating the crank scraper flat to clear the stud girdle, the Kaase pump hits the front sump. Anybody use the 13-772? Or what pan do you guys suggest?

Its def the Kaase pump. You can see where it marks the pan when it hits. Its holding it up 1/4".

Like Dave said, take off the SG. But on some pans the Kaase pump still hits.On my Moroso pan I had too extend the front sump 1/2" on my Foxbody pan too clear.

Guys,

You can GRIND Exclamation You can grind a little on the oil pump, and you can grind a little on those stud girdles for sure. It's been my experience that the Canton oil pan won't even clear the Canton stud girdle. Mock up and create clearance as necessary.

The Canton bbf pan pump pockets are but 6-1/4"...the Moroso pan's pump pockets are 6-1/2". That's an issue....it aint your fault that the Canton stuff don't work but, you should have ask.
Even at that....a few of the Moroso pans very well may need to be hit with a hammer or file/mill a little off of the end cap with the Kaase oil pump.

I second Uncle Charlie. I have a Canton deep sump front pan, Melling pump, Canton main support, and Canton windage tray. I had to grind clearance on the main support to clear the pump, and I had to cut down the sides of the windage tray to clear the pan. I thought this was going to be a "matched" setup. Laughing I also had to remove the crank scraper on the pan. I did this with a dremel tool and a heavy duty cutoff wheel. I carefully cut through the TIG weld, removed the metal, then I grinded down the remaining weld smooth. It looks like it was never there. Cool

The Canton 13-772 drag pan has a 6 1/2" front sump. I think I will be ok with that. I'm going to try it unless somebody chimes in not to. It seems to be more open with less bs to get in the way.

My Moroso Eliminator pan with built in windage screen just touches my Kaase pump. No big deal. If it fits like a glove that usually means something's wrong.

I'd be interested into knowing if this setup works. Same pump and pan I plan on using on my new build.

My canton pan worked fine with a Kaase pump, can't remember the part number.
