Brand X Build for Reference....
Just finshed dynoing A 427 (Cough Cough) (Actually 440") Chebby for the old Dragster I purchased a few months back. I'm presenting for you guys to see what the competition is getting out of simple builds, so we can keep on top of the competition. No I'm not converting.... I've had this thing sitting around forever and could never get a fair dollar for it when I've tried dumping it...... So I figure I wear it out and part it after having some fun.
Here's the Combo
.060 over 2 bolt Block, 4.31 Bore
3.76 Stroke Factory Steel Crank
6.135 Scat Cap Screw I beams
JE 48cc Domed Pistons with 1/16 Ring Pack.... About 12:1 Compression.
Canfield 310 CC head with mild clean-up, flowed 350ish at .700 on the intakes
Lunati Solid Roller 260 / 270 .680 / .700 110 LC
1.7 Comp Rockers, Erson H11 Springs and TI retainers
1050 8896 Dominator on a Out of the box Eddy Victor JR intake 2729
2 1/8 headers...... Oly BBC headers the dyno guy had that would fit was a set of old hooker corvette side pipes........52" primarys.... definetly hurting the power. He's a SBC circle jerker......
Champion #8 Plugs and 37 Degs of timing, 94 square jetted.
Only did about 8 pulls best was 670hp @ 6500 and 590 ft/lb @ 5300........ Had 505 ft lb @ 4000 Hit and 384 hp / 485 ft lb @ 7000 stop and 650 hp.
Figuring it will pick up a few more HP with the correct upswept 2" headers for the dragster, evac system and some more run time. Guessing it will be in the 690-700hp range.

HP Per Inch...........
No matter what "brand" this is, thats stout HP per CI in my book! Very impressive build for the parts used! Those Canfield heads were pretty decent I have been told, and your results prove it...............

Just goes to show that if the aftermarket supports a brand with multiple speed parts which are easily available, making high horsepower is not a major difficulty.
If you've got a Ford or a Mopar, (or worse, an AMC, Olds or Buick or something else), you have very few choices with parts unless you MAKE or modify them yourself ... as a lot of people say, almost anybody can build a Chevrolet, lol.
