The block would need to be welded with nickel rod and remachined in that area I would think you are easily looking at~$200 the question is, is the block worth investing that into which only you can decide.

Re: Is this repairable?
is it worth it if it is a D0ve-a block? it is bored something over, according to family. balanced and blueprinted. like I said, I only have hear say, no much for records. I was a ase master tech for 10 years, move on to another type of service work. I was never a HP type guy until it became more of a hobby. I have a solid understanding of how engines wok , just get nervous about hi pro stuff. never really a carb guy either.

Re: Is this repairable?
D0VE-A blocks tend to be worth more than other production blocks. Good used cores can get $100 - $300 all depending on location and condition. If it is a 4 bolt main block it is worth a bit more. Since the engine has been rebuild have to consider cost to have another block checked out and machined.
If it was mine I'd take it apart and inspect the block. Provided everything else on the block is good I'd get it repaired. Just have to find a good shop capable of properly fixing it.
