need teacher

Post  hpwdboss1 on Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:48 pm

I am putting together a fresh 472 and want to improve my cam selection. We run 6k chip and 4777 Holley(650cfm). I know we have several really good people to get to for spec'ing a cam, and I respect all of them, but I wonder if one of you who has spent time with small carb combo's can help me out? I realize it will take alot more info than just this, but I will spend more time with whoever I can get with to buy a cam from.
Happy New Year!
Perry

Is the 6k and carb part # the only restrictions? If so its gonna take some Dyno time to get the right camshaft that will make the most usable power below 6k.

Need a teacher

Post  hpwdboss1 on Wed Jan 04, 2012 8:16 am

We run flat tappet cams, < 500ci, factory iron heads, block, and intake, with 1" spacer limit. Any Gasoline, no power adders, any compression any internal mods. Pictures and complete rules @ ABBMR.com. Fairly inexpensive class, very competitive, and lots of fun.
Thanks

Run as much compression ratio as you can get with that engine ... the amount you have will see a LARGE effect upon the camshaft necessary.

Hint - you can't give anything away on the exhaust side.

Don't get the intake manifold too big.
