small block roller lifters in a 460
Ok a small ford (302,351) and a 460 use the same comp cam part# hyd. and solid flat tappet lifter but different solid roller lifter. they small ford and 460 solid roller has the same .875 diam. and the same 2.01 seat height so is the only difference the lifter bore spacing? If so can I buy tie bars for 460 solid rollers and use the small fords in a 460? You can buy the tie bars for $4.95 each.

The Roller Lifters do not interchange from my understanding, has to do with the oiling.

The small block, and big block lifters are dimensionally identical, but the oil port on the lifter bodies are in different locations. Using the small block lifter in a big block will totally flood the top of your motor with oil.

Bore spacing is NOT the only difference.
As has been said ...The oil hole(s) through the lifter for getting oil to the top-end is in a different location.

After futher review(LOL) it says right on comp cams website, one oils perpendicular to the axle and the othe oils paralell to the axle. I was just trying to save some money on my new build.

Using older roller lifters is not the place to "save money" on any new build.
