had a bad vibration , so i tore motor done, taking it to machine shop..i found a broken timing gear but car still ran, i thought the timing was acting funny when i was setting timing..and it has the wrong pistons in it, the pistons that are in it are 240 pistons and are .230 in the hole..for a whooping my binding 7-1 compression..cam starts pulling at 3000 and stops at 6000..so if i put more cam in it and some 351w pistons to get the compression up, it should run pretty dam good for a 6 banger

I did one several years ago with 351 hyper kieth blacks with .100 dome and a ported 240 head. It was hard on the stock rod brgs but it was a power house. turned it 7000-7200 every run.

i was shocked that i got a 1.83 60ft ..then discovered it has 7-1 compression...with the piston ill put in it and cam, it should run 12.00

how did that work ? always wondered how a dome on a 351w will fit the inline head cause of the valve angle compared to the dome angle

I can't remember the exact dome height, but the volume was 5 cc and It had plenty of valve to piston clearance with a .650 lift cam and dur @ .050 around 260 on a 104 sep Trying to remember specs off the top of my head. but there close.

dont want to spend that much , not trying to sit the world on fire, looks like dome top 351w pistons will work ..it will be between 11.5--12 compression depe nding on my cc of head mand not sure if deck has been cut..at a bare min 11.5 compared to the 7-1 it is now..heck that probally close to at least 50-75 hp..i hope

Check this out, pretty neat article

Just spotted this.. that's my chassis guy Mike Robinson... one hell of a craftsman. His old race car was a tube chassis Maverick that was absolutely gorgeous. 9.32 @ 149 with a 466 & Doug Nash Cool Wish I was more on my camera game back when he had it..

Update--10-26-2012...redone the motor, discovered it had wrong pistons in it, .230 in the hole.. so i put early model rods in it with some trw dome 351w pistons for 11.5-1 compression..new roller rockers..new steel timing set..degreed the cam..proform 650 carb..same deal as last time, i had my hand on shifter and did not go 2 feet and hit 2nd gear..then when about 100 ft and went to 3rd..ran 13.33@94 mph 1/4 mile...and 8.30 1/8 mile.--1.87 60ft...went threw lights at 6200 rpm..next pass radiator started leaking and i put it on the trailer ..it will run low 12s once i learn not to touch the shifter

went out last weekend, could not get car to stall for nothing, not even on the tranny brake..it worked fine few weeks ago..easy 4000 on brake..now at 2500 it pushes the car..so not sure whats going on there, so i foot braked it.. 1.73 60ft time and a 8.21 1/8 mile and a 13.20 1/4 mile..i pulled motor out already and have a decent 302 going back in..
