Gout

Post  fastfrog on Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:21 pm

I'm a Vietnam vet. I got gout 4 yrs ago. The Va has me taking this pill every day to help control it--Allopurinol--300mg--then for pain they gave me--indocin --three times day as needed (25MG each). Have only had 2 fair ups in two yrs. Laughing You can get this in your ankle or elbo. Shocked The elbo didn't hurt just swole up big. What a Face Get the cherry juice at health store or start learning to eat them. geek This is cause each person has a differnt source to cause this. confused I know someone that butter beans does him in Sleep ,mine is alot of red spicey sauce mix. affraid Other people --shrimp--You learn what crawling is all about again. alien scratch clown Good luck--Fastfrog lol!

I really don't know yet what caused mine. Rolling Eyes My doctor said that if you don't eat anything to excess It probably wouldn't flair up.

Well there goes shrimp fest at Red Lobster huh.............. Very Happy Sad

Re: Sure sign of the Gout!!!

I've had it for years before I even knew what it was. In the beginning it would start in the joint next to the big toe and I just thought I had stubbed it or something. As it progressed it would start in one foot and then as it got better move into the other foot. Later it started in the ankle and did the same and sometimes into the knee. Originally I was prescribed endomycin for it but my body got used to it and am now on the allopurinol every day and it has cut down on the attacks. Sometimes it will flare up and I'll take some cochicine [sp] and it will know it out but a couple of times I have had to get a shot for it. Those who have never had it prob can't imagine the pain but at times I've had to crawl because I was unable to walk.

As mentioned the doctor said red meat and sea food but there is a long list of stuff including green beans that can contribute to it.

It hurts worse than getting slapped in the sack!.....Here is what works for me...
Pour as much apple cider vinegar as you can stand to drink into a glass and chug it....yea I know but, it works...good for weight loss too...once a day.
Cherry concentrate...you can find it at Wal-Mart....daily.
Drink as much water as you can stand to drink....daily.
