They say the intake is 14° and the exhaust is 4° ??? Stock is Int. 9.5°x5°, Exh. 15°x4° and the Kaase SCJ/P51 Int. 8°x4.5°, Exh. 4°x4° so not sure what those angles they list mean.
The stock intake valve angles you mention are not right.
They are not the same as a Cleveland.
Want to hear something funny Randy I took those numbers from YOUR post in this thread:
http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105559
Scott Johnson in that same thread and on his website list the std Intake as "5 degrees / 9 degrees 30 minutes ( inclined in 2 planes) for the intake".
So guess once again I should know better to quick google something for an answer, at least my printed reference materials are correct... I'll just have to look it up the old fashioned way... As for cleveland valve angles I hope they did.

Re: AFR BBF new head
OK looks like stock 429/460 Intake is 15 x 5 . Cleveland Intake 9.3 x 4.15. Lesson learned always look in the book... the angles in the article now make sense too...

All that information was gathered from that year FRPP catalog which was later determined to be wrong.
Re: AFR BBF new head
Yes Randy, I see the wrong part. Seems once misinformation gets out, it is always out there.
You may want to go back and correct your old post for accuracy sake. Regards, Steve

Wow, I sure hope the springs in the 185's that are on my 5.0l are ok. It's been about 13 years since I put them on and I have never so much as checked the valves in that time.

AFR plans to do dyno tests against several heads, including the P51's.

They sure didn't talk those heads up at SEMA. Whomever we talked to didn't think they would be world beaters by any means. We were hoping to see another race head option.

Just curious what race head options you feel are lacking?

something comparable to the Chevy "conventional" heads that can take nitrous without consistently eating itself up.
we seen great boosted numbers with the A-heads with zero issues but would like to see more options with the nitrous stuff.

Re: AFR BBF new head
I spoke with AFR last week on the phone. These heads will be very good. They want to have the best CJ head possible. They are working to beat the P-51. IIRC, they will have three different exhaust port heights, std, .250, .625. They said all Ford bolt pattern. Don't believe there will be a Chevy pattern. First ones out this year will be standard location. End of the year .250. Early next year .625. It was his guess. They will make both an open plane intake AND a dual plane. Price est. 2700 and up assembled a pair he said was a guess. They are currently testing them and don't want to bring them to market until they are completely ready.
Sounds good to me.

Re: AFR BBF new head
Are these going to require a dedicated piston like P51's or SCJ's?

Yes. The AFR's have their own valve location/angle, different from anything currently available.

Re: AFR BBF new head
Yes and no.. MAC versus IBM, if enough people don't buy, then there is an issue with anyone getting the pistons for a reasonable cost. You drastically cut your market window when you have $3000 or so of head and another grand or more in pistons.... than if someone could just get the heads.
But, if the valve layout is the same as the SCJ/P51 head, your pretty much just offering another label with that same head. Not much else you can improve/change with the exact same layout.
