OK guys Im thinking about doing a budget build 460. I've never built a stock based 460 only 460's I've messed with is 600 plus" c-headed and Thor headed. I'm thinking about a 540 maybe 572 if I can get that done with stock block? My question is what's the best block and heads to start with? I'm hoping to get a max afford deal cheap as possible...lol it will be in a mud bog truck. Thanks

Are you cylinder head limited? A good place to start would be a good D9 block with a sonic check. I had one that would have gone to a 4.5" bore, and they can be found, but they are less than 10%. With a set of good DOVE heads on a 552, I had a stout drag engine that would keep up with most stuff around here.

What are the rules and what the budget?

Not really any limitations I just want to build a bad ass 460 with a stock block and stock heads? I don't know y prob. Cause I've never used stock components? More curious than anything how good I can make one run.

you want cheap . I'll make it simple to understand - sell me one of your 600+ Thor head engines for $1 (one dollar) and I will sell it back to ypu for a $1K . then you can say look what i got for a thousand bucks.
that way you won't have to deal with yourself for that $1 sale

Slap a 4.5" crank in there with a good set of early heads, a Victor or Mafia intake, one of Lem's roller cams, and an 1150 or 1250 QFX and go kick some butt
