If you listen at the end of that video, you can hear the crowd cheering about the numbers he put up on the board. Later on, one of the girls that was there came over and wanted to take Randy's, and the car's picture, because as she said; "he was the fastest racer here". I chuckled.
His 1/8th mile e.t. was 5.23 on that run I believe, however he has run a couple of 5.15 e.t.s at Beech Bend. At the end of the day, that's not bad for a 562 CID engine with a set of OEM style heads,,,,meaning the P-51 heads.
Meanwhile, Randy's new nickname is "The Velcro Kid".

Hey Randy,
What did you do to tame that wheelstand? Move the I.C.
It looked impressive.
Cheers Colin.

Re: 8.208 @ 165 P-51 Headed Monster
Thanks Colin,
I tightened the extension on the shocks while I was there (when the pic was taken) it helped quite a bit, but I eventually moved the 4 link down a hole at the housing on the top bar later on .
I was not ready for a wheel stand like that the first pass so I was a bit concerned
.
A couple of weekends later at the bash the car layed down 3 1.09 60 times, several 1.10's and a 1.11.
After about 30 passes I am suspecting the sidewalls gave up on the tires and it started the spinning. I am too poor to be buying tires every 30 passes so I am just letting it spin until better weather rolls around
.
I am going to switch to a d-5 from the d-6 compound and see how that works out.

So Randy,
It looks like you moved your I.C forward and higher to tame it down, is that correct?
You are making more power than me but I can see some similarities with my set-up.
Just trying to understand what you did because it seemed to work.
Do you know what distance out and height your I.C was, and what it is now after the change.
Cheers Colin.
