Windage tray mounting Empty Windage tray mounting

I am doing a 460 build with a stock oil pan and was told I might have clearance issues with the new crank and stock oil pan is it better to have the windage tray welded to the bottom of the oil pan or have it bolted to the engine block is one way better than the other also if I weld it inside the oil pan does it need to be in a certain position can it be on the bottom of the pan or does it need to be closer to the top were I have the pick up tube below the w/tray does anybody have pictures of there windage tray installation????

Use this tray.

And this mounting kit

As you can see the main studs extend for mounting the tray. If you need more clearance (4.5 stroke) use flanged jam nuts on the main cap side and spacer the tray out away from the crank. Round spacers will work as well. Dont be afraid to cut and grind on the tray for the pickup installation. You may spend a few hours on this to get it right.
