Good morning all!

I have an issued. My 460 overheated to 290 and I didn't really it until 15 minutes later. My fan was giving out.

My question is should I be worried and what should I look out for?

Thanks

replace the thermostat. They are designed to fail-safe open. If temp was high... through a new one in.

Do they stay in the fail safe mode when it overheats? Should I be worried about the engine?

Iron heads... not so much. Aluminum. Head gasket concern. Fail safe on thermostat its broken
Some melt out a rubber seal others mechanically break. Oil change wouldn't be a bad idea. Check oil for coolant coolantfor oil next few run cycles. If nothing drive on.
