damaged but fixable aluminum heads

looking for a set of edelbrock or trick flow damaged heads that are not beyond point of repair. w

Be careful here...I know a guy who will weld aluminum heads back together if you can find MOST of the pieces.

I have a set of Blue Thunder "B" heads - don't know how fixable they are - the porter got em pretty thin in the short turn and they have some cracks - but I ran them that way for years. need guides, maybe some other work but they do have new Manley double springs and Ti retainers.

Ben think of it like this, you buy the heads $$---- have the welded up $$---- machined back $$--- valves and valve job $$$---- now you have almost what a new set cost

like Coug said, find the cost to repair heads. now that depends on what head casting your repairing.
Cost equals casting cost + shipping/any parts neaded and welding. then machine work.

example, I got early A460 heads(prior to Ford SVO) casting $400 parts need $375 est. labor to weld and machine work-$????. labor depends on area/who you know. my guess of total cost $1100 to $1250.
then the valves and all else for a complete set of heads. My cost is parts only, but I don't need them.

not a good deal for someone that can't do the repairs himself or or got that -i got an uncle that can.

new or a good used pair ready to go is your better deal. one last thing, know what type of head that works for your build/budget

Is have to agree with Coug and Dan..... Got to watch damaged head repairs they can end up making them more expensive that good ones if your paying someone else to do the work.

Ya I'll have to look a little I have a good set of dove c heads sittin hear I should just port or have ported. My uncle also does aluminum head repair but him having time is questionable at best

All of the above is true - and I would not attempt to repair the castings on these heads - they have some hairline cracks from the porting, and can potentially leak. I learned to deal with it and ran them for several years and hundreds of passes on a 523 that ran 9.40s in a 3,000 lb car at altitude - they worked ok, But they are pretty rough.
