I called on the telephone and chatter with Jerry. He said to send him pictures of the lifter seat. I did. December 4, 2014.
I waited a week and sent him another email asking if he received the pictures I sent (as I had not had any response). His reply in capital letters: YES I SENT IT TO THE MACHINE SHOP

I guess its Crower's way of saying PFO?
I have now waited another 6 weeks no response. I just sent off another email to Jerry.
A very polite one as I do not want to piss him off again.

I know Crower components are usually well made, but when you do have a problem who do you call or what do you do? get lawyers involved over a $100.00 pair of lifters?

WTF? Really, that is the product support one gets from Crower? I feel like throwing the other 7 pairs of lifters in the garbage and purchasing something else.

Crower has had some major changes in the last few years, from my understanding the Crower family is no longer involved in the business at all, it's been sold off.

Coug does have a point.... Like it or not.

Thanks guys!

I guess it is the new way of doing business in corporate America!
Take over a family run company with a decent track record and then MAXIMIZE every possible return dollar. It works for the short term quarterly profit figures. However, posts like this one to show lack of product support and reduced quality control of a once great company will hopefully make others aware of the new internal workings at Crower. I have had good parts from Crower in the past. I will never purchase anything from this company ever again.

There are other alternatives for all Crower parts. I have heard good things about Morel bushing type and the ultra pro needle type lifters.

I can't wait to get the 502 back on the road. Many updates and changes happening. Cylinder head and intake manifold work, and a new Lem cam.

Cheers everyone.

I would rather throw the lifters in the metal recycle bin, than give them to you Coug.

It is true that one needs to massage some race parts to fit (like the shaft rocker assembly I have). However I do not have to fix mis-machined rocker arm parts. The rocker arms themselves and the push rod cups are fine.

I do not think it typical that lifter seats need lapping to correct shoddy machining. Am I an a-hole for bringing this to light?

I would be out of business along time ago if my service after an obvious quality control issue was not dealt with.

you should feel special coug usually just tells the guy to stick um up his ass..........

agreed it sucks to have a new part like this faulty, if they gave me the run around Id probly lap the thing in and make a note to never buy another crower part again as well as making sure everyone I know did the same..............shit happens with parts, but the customer service in the end is what makes or breaks the deal imo.

Thanks richter69.

I truly have never ever heard of any credible engine builder trying to fix a lifter push rod seat.
It would take far more than $100.00 worth of time to fix the part.

On a 385 series Ford forum I would expect to hear about other persons issues with any parts purchased.
We have all seen multiple issues from ProComp, and other lower cost alternatives. There are certainly issues with some of the big name brands as well.

Thank God for forums (like this one) that allow the airing of grievances.

Post  68galaxie January 27th 2015, 8:01 pm

I just received a phone call from Jerry at Crower. He will be sending me a lifter pair!
I was happy to hear, and hopefully it will not take the next person with an issue several months
to get resolved. Thank you Crower, my faith has been restored.

Festivus is certainly in the air!
