My weapon of choice when traveling is my 22mag it will penetrate a bullet proof vest, and will take your head off at 75 yards,  expansion rate of the bullet is devastating. other than that I take my 9mm you won't want any part of it either, you will spend a month in the operating room and or will die slowly. I don't need or want a howitzer, if you can't shoot it accurately why have it... just to say yours is bigger if you can't shoot it accurately you will be the one dieing...

I for once agree with coug. I carry a 9 mm 16+1 or 380acp. If I need more gun than that I've gotten myself in a bad spot. I can put 15 center mass and one in the head from 25 yds. If I'm shooting someone from further than that I'm not defending myself. I do have other larger guns but I would say I put more rounds down range with those than any of my others combined.

Officer Wilson lost everything due too,,, "according to the media and the public" used excesive force by shooting Mike Brown too many times. Something else to think about when you putting 15 into the center mass...

with a large caliber round one hit in the shoulder will tear the perp apart never to get up and keep charging ( think this is why the larger calibers were invented)

I don't plan on being attacked by elephants. If I need to shoot I will shoot until I don't need to shoot anymore. I don't think I will concern myself with the possible perception of a jury. Being alive when it's over is good enough for me. I mean it's not like I reloaded.

45ACP ftw, easy to shoot, and will get the job done.  Might not be what you use, but it's what I've got.  BTW, if you are using a handgun, you are in a last ditch sort of way.  I'd rather have my 12g auto any day.

I have been hit with a 38 3 times, 2 1 inch under the pec muscle and one in the shoulder and I could have still got to the shooter if I had wanted. If it had been 357magnum rounds in the gun I wouldn't be typing!

Bigger isn't always better in a gunfight, but .50 sure is cool to play with at the range.

The are a pain to carry and expensive to practice with and very hard to get extremely proficient with.

IMO if you want a big boom in a handgun get a 10mm or a snubby 44 mag.

There is just something about the sound of that bolt closing that will scare the scat right out of the bad guys.

Wouldn't recommend the rack it and scare em tactic, although it should work many times it doesn't...don't rack it unless you are prepared to squeeze it...Sorry for the quote Schmitty I know YOU are but many are not.

I almost purchased a .44 mag Deagle however couldn't justify it. Just didn't seem practical.

FYI: Bad guys won't hear my bolt closing, I carry with one in the pipe.

A protection gun should always be carried this way. The only sound a perp should hear is BANG!

I'm with you Damon, mine is already stoked. Where I'm at depends on what I carry.  I'm too old to run, too broke up to fight and too fat to hide. I don't like confrontation and will do almost anything to avoid it but there can come a time and place for everything.

My brother lives in Ohio, recently he was approached by a man wearing a black ski mask type hat and said "Get on the ground!" My brother told him to F himself and pull the trigger.

Now my brother wants to get a pistol and CCW permit/license. I told him if it had been me the "Masked Dumbass" would have had 2 to the chest and one to the head.

I concur with you Ward, I'm too old to fight/run etc....
