I am looking into the MSD Al-2 programable ignition system I'm going to use on my 521. Its not going to be boosted but I was wondering if I will need to run a MAP sensor anyway? I don't know if it will be something that will help me tune and run the ignition / engine tuning.

The sensor is optional, and including it would allow you to take advantage of the box's ability to vary the advance curve based on manifold vacuum.  This would be the equivalent of the vacuum canister on a distributor connected to manifold vacuum, but super adjustable.  Whether this is needed?  I suppose if you want to educate yourself on wringing every last MPG out of that 521 via tuning the advance curve vs. vacuum/RPM that box will get you there.. you just need to program the magic numbers carefully Wink

I could see wanting that functionality on a street driven/mileage application, but performance stuff not so much.  JMHO
