Small block chevy?????

OK, correct me if I'm wrong, but how can they call it a small block chevy, when to me, the water pump holes, the exhaust ports and bolt pattern, look to me like a bbc? Even the width of the China wall and the height and width of the heads look bbc.

when did Chevy ever have equal bore spacing on the intake runners?




Oh yes when they coppied ford...

Even the timing cover bolt pattern looks like a bbc.

Its a rat with mouse main bearings.
..  Actually its not even a rat with the cam height its a Merlin aka mercury marine with small block main journals.

It's no more SBC that the nascar stuff..... Purely a race engine that somebody has put a bow tie in the valve covers.

The splayed valve, symetrical "Bow Tie" heads have been available since the late 80's. They were most used on the NHRA Pro Stock Truck engines of the mid 90's. It was no FORD copy; the standard 5 head-bolt, 17 bolt pattern of the small block Chevrolet would fit on any production small block engine with the same head gaskets.
