The Yates D3 cylinder heads or Kaase's P-38
witch one will give the most hp & trq. for racing.

The Yates D3 of course.
The ports are raised a bunch on the D3 and it uses Cleveland rocker arm geometry; the P-38 has O.E.M. production location ports.

^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^ A few things to be aware of... pistons, and there are 9.2 and 9.5 deck intakes for them, you can get spacers but be aware of what you are buying, further headers with a raised port design will change, however they will enjoy RPM and NOS is not a problem.Wink

Randy,i've heard the Yates sbf head referred to as a JR. version of the C460. Is this true?

The other way around ... the C460 was designed around the original Yates NASCAR heads.

Flow tested a Yates head a few years back. Figure they were not fully ported but the big thing was flowing at 360 CFM they were had to be the quietest head I HAVE EVER FLOW TESTED.
