Definitely shows "230" not .030.
Sorry, this ^^^^ is in response to an earlier post re: identify the current pistons installed in my '71 429cj engine.
TRW 98 230 shows on the underside of the installed pistons. Trying to confirm what they are... Cheers

That number is the forging blank number. It is simply the one used to make that and other similar size and style pistons. OEM TRW supplied pistons should have the Ford part number stamped on the flat top. Same with the TRW replacement except it would have a TRW number. The OEM piston should be a flat top with valve relief cut out only. 1.040 wrist pin diameter and pressed pin application. 5/64 x 5/64 x 3/16 ring package.

Thanks GT. Makes sense. I was undecided if I was going to remove the heads before taking to the machine shop, now as I investigate and learn more about the engine, I will remove the heads to see what pistons these are. Does make it easier to load and take to the machine shop anyway...
To ADMIN: I really wish I could load some pictures on this page, would be helpful, especially for me when asking questions... is this possible???

Thanks. I do have a Photobucket setup, will look to utilize. I saw some pictures on some of the responses here (no apparent link to an offsite hosting service); that is why I asked.
