Roots blower intercoolers

Post  blown473 on December 7th 2009, 10:32 pm

Has anyone run a "Super chiller" intercooler on a street/track car? I've seen it done in magazines with a water tank in the trunk or bed or a remote radiator, anybody on the forum tried this out? Manufacturer claims 100 hp gain . Raises blower up 3-4 inches gotta look scary! As they say "Any excuse to turn up the boost!"

Seen 'em on boats, but there's a constant supply of cool water available there. Would be interesting to see how one would work on dry land.

intercooler

I have a 2004 Ford Lightining as my daily driver, and it has a similar but much smaller setup. Chiller in manifold, separate radiator in lower grill, electric water pump moves coolant. Allows 10 lbs boost on pump premium. Just gotta do it on a bigger scale...

Street & Strip

I have seen these intercoolers on Roots Blow boats.

Would a 5-10 gallon fuel cell feed enough cold water to the intercooler Question

intercooler tank

That would probably do it, the only way I think it wouldn't is if was street driven for many hours and the water lost is cooler temps.. but you can add ice or dry ice and have it last a long time. I've seen guys with small remote radiators too, and that works as well. I would eventually like to try setting one up I'm sure it could be made to work. Very Happy

Our 6.7L diesel is using water cooled inter cooler for the cold air charge.

On my boat I am running a BLOWER SHOP inter cooler (heat exchange).

With enough water you should do very well on the street...!
