tfs intake and cometic gasket questions Empty tfs intake and cometic gasket questions

Post  bbfstanger May 7th 2017, 11:25 pm

ok I have a unmilled new style tfs A460 intake and it lines up great with no gaskets.   I'm going to get a pr of the cometics intake gaskets this week and was wondering what the compressed thickness is .040 ?  I figured id need to mill the intake a little. Would I need to mill it .040 or the same as the compressed gasket thickness to keep the port alignment? I'm trying to avoid having to mill it more than once . Any rule of thumb?
thanks john

If the intake lines up correctly without a gasket, you'll have to remove whatever thickness you add with a gasket. Most intake gaskets are .060" thick and I've never worried about compressed thickness. I doubt they compress .020". I doubt your ports line up close enough to worry about .020", either. Just remember, it's better to not take enough off than take too much.
