There is some commonly available Holley info, but this kind of info that I seek seems to be much
less available. You need to know this level of detail to properly tune.

How does one measure very small holes, something like a sized pin index ?

!. I have that book and it only goes up to 1989 when it was printed.

2. It gives the metering block numbers if you know the List Number of the Carburetor, but not all and some of the block numbers are just generic part numbers given. If you are working on older Holley's the 1975 Edition is No. 36-51 (Rev. 2) and is much cheaper used.

3. No it does not give the hole sizes in the blocks.  

4. Use a pin gauge set or buy you a set of machinist number size drill bits, they are fairly cheap on Ebay.

PS: The 1989 Holley Black Book as it is commonly known stops at -2 series ie 4779-2 750DP ect. The 1975 "Red Book" goes to series -1 ie. 4779-1 on DP's and It goes to a few -2 and maybe -3's if they were made in 1975 or before.

I have a Holley book by Dave Emanuel (not same title Supervel45 linked to) that has about 10 pages at the back with listings of carbs and components and their specs.
If you want to post some of the p/n you have, I would be happy to look them and report back any info - if they are listed in my book.

My list/book has no numbers like you describe. All the carbs listed have numbers like 134-131, 134-150, 134-214, etc., for the primary and secondary metering blocks. Secondary Metering Plates have numbers like 134-49 (and stamped "49") and 134-7 (stamped "7"), etc..

Do the 11848's have a hole for ported vacuum?

The block number seems to be linked to an HP950 which does not have ported vacuum provision.

The only books I know of that have the actual block numbers are the Holley Illustrated Parts&Spec's Manuals and they are very limited also, and the latter one has a lot of the generic 134 numbers for blocks like the List Number 1850-2 is a 134-128 and should be inside of the ported vacuum cavity.

Have fun with them. 80496-2 HP 950 is what it looks like. Should have a round casting mark were the ported vacuum tube goes if it is a late model non Street HP Block.
