hey guys, I'm looking to build a some what budget stroker big block for my foxbody. right now have a big inch nitrous small block but looking to make the switch to a big block. don't know a lot about the big blocks but want to learn. what I want is a quick reving motor that can handle a little nitrous. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

That's a pretty broad question. Like, what is your "some what budget"? Do you intend to run a specific class? What are some details on the car? How fast do you want to go? Do you have any parts to start this project?

I'd say budget around 10 grand. The car is a stripped down 88 Gt 5 speed car. Team z all the way around. I don't have any certain class I would run just track every once in a while. The motor will be on around a 300 shot of spray and will be running 116 octane. Just not sure what cubic inch motor would work best for me

Do quite a bit of street racing. That's where it would be used the most

Good block and crank are the best money you will spend. 4.5x4.3 at least then whatever the budget allows for heads. Lots of good options in a standard bbf type head like SCJ or P51. If you look around and know who you're dealing with you can buy something already together for a bargain.

For the street ... hookin' it up is the whole game and nitrous is a TORQUE maker.
For starters, I would start with an A460 block with a 4.600" bore and 4.15" stroke making it a 552 cubic inch engine.

Work from that platform to be within your certain monetary budget.

That's s kinda what I was thinking for cubic inches. Wasn't to sure but glad someone else was thinking the same thing lol.

You didn't specify how much power you're targeting but Ill speculate anyway.

Find yourself a D0VE-A block, put splayed 4-bolt caps on it, bore it to the next oversize (30/60/80 over), toss in a forged common 4.3" rotating assembly (such as Scat), Ford SCJ heads, porting, cam, and set up accordingly overall, and you could have yourself a 1000-hp Nitrous engine if you really want, and with solid (relative) reliability.

A high end racing block and exotic crankshaft are not mandatory, and in fact there are forum members making hundreds more horsepower with D0VE blocks and Scat cranks, including one who's D0VE blocked nitrous engine dyno'd at 1428 hp but his water jackets were hard blocked due to its 4.50" bore.
