Re: Galaxie Build
Thanks for the rack pics Travis. We are doing a similar change on my Fairlane. We bought an Escort rack and plan to mount it to the bolt in crossmember very similar to what you did. Looks good. Keep up the good work. I'm not going to make it to the bash this year so now you have another year to finish it.

Re: Galaxie Build
Hey, Travis:
I've watched your 62 Galaxie build from the beginning, and your workmanship is "over the edge" beautiful. The crossmember modification is nice as well, but I think you should re do it a little bit. I say this because of a "Fatman Fabrications" front clip that I installed in a Studebaker a few years ago. It too had a drop out crossmember which made it real easy to drop the oilpan. After the car had been on the road for a while the customer had oil pressure problems which made me have to drop the pan - what I saw was cause for concern, the mounting tabs were much like yours. When I first installed the front end, the crossmember fit very snugly, but now the bolt tabs were "dog eared", and the crossmember fell out when I unbolted it! I redid the crossmember with heavier flanges, and I triagulated them, and since has held up very well. I coudn't believe how much twist there must have been there.
