How's it going guys. First post here I'll try to make it short

I'm picking up a solid 69 fastback that needs a drivetrain. I also have a killer deal lined up on a basically brand new drivetrain

The drivetrain is as follows

472 stroker
dove heads ported to match
1100 carb
Dominator intake
Comp cam 736 lift solid roller
Knife edge crank billet
11:1 Manley pistons
700+ hp

Hugh Stevens c4 race tranny

This drivetrain was built to make power on the strip However I will be using it more for street use and a handful of track days a year

I need help on which cam and valve springs I should go with .reliability is important as well

The guy that has the motor also took it apart some to show potential buyers the condition. While doing that I was informed that the "oil guides " where the pushrods go into. were flipped (o shaped cutout exposed) this didn't cause issues while running and oil pressure was good (1500 miles and 2 passes). I just don't know if this could be something detrimental in the future when I buy it down the road. I was told they can be flipped and I will be fine. But id figure is ask here.

With the above info if anyone can recommend a good converter that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Please explain your engine a little more.

I'm thinking you've got some things mixed up a little.

Where you getting this engine? You building it new?

Are you referring to guide plates?

Are you asking for torque converter brand recommendations or stall speed? If stall speed you need to settle on a cam first.

Welcome aboard by the way and sounds like a nice ride.

The engine is listed on craigslist it is already built I have a picture of the part that he says is installed backwards but I'm trying to figure out how to upload it on this forum

Stall speed and brand reccomendations would be appreciated as I am new to automatics. The previous guy was running a 5000 stall which I was told is way too much for street use

I'd stay away from that engine, just the description has me on BS alert.

He sent me pics of the engine broken down. Looks pretty clean Deal is really good. Maybe too good. Ugh. Lol

I started a thread over on 460ford.com with basically the same title in the engine build archive. Where I uploaded a pic if anyone is a member there

I'd be careful on that deal, it does odd. Billet Crank? If you are paying for that I would verify, first.

I just verified that the lifters are definitely a roller type lifter , How can I verify that the crank is billet. I can have the guy send me pictures if need be

The guy sounds full of BS as stated so why are you trying to justify this motor??

A 472 is not a stroker.

Nobody puts a $4000 billet crank in a stock engine.

And 700+ hspr with dove heads??

Assembled wrong by the person trying to sell it??

What sounds right about any of that to you??

The guy selling it is the shop that installed the engine and built the car for the owner. He wrapped the car up and bought another car that was done. and kept the drivetrain that's for sale The deal is for

Engine , built c4 trans , new aluminum radiator , ford 9 rear with moser axles. Headers and other parts. For 3k. But I will not be taking the rear or headers. So even if I get the motor with carb and trans and radiator for 2k. Even if the motor was "relatively stock". Wouldn't that still be a really good deal ?

UPDATE. owner of the shop just texted me and found out it's a stock crank and stock rods The owner of the car was lied to when he bought the motor that's why he pulled it apart to see cause he wasn't going to sell anything to somone if he didn't know for sure and put his shops reputation on the line

Walk away from it. Build a nice motor for yourself so you will know for sure what it contains.

I saw the pictures on the other site and one question comes to mind......If the builder of the engine installed the roller lifters wrong what else did he do wrong while assembling the engine??? Also a race prepped C-4 isn't the best trans to drive on the street behind a big block, For the type of driving you plan to do I think a C-6 would be better. As others have said walk away from this one and call some of the vendors on this site and have an engine built just for you. Just my 2 cents.
