VALVE-PISTON CLEARENCE

Post  PAPPY on January 28th 2018, 2:36 pm

Have been trying to put a build together and am curious if a flat top piston motor with stock stroke and PI heads would need help if I use a cam with 0.664 & 0.671 lift. wonder if I need different pistons

depends on the pistons you use and if they have deep enough reliefs already. Only way to tell would be to mock up one cylinder and check

Was afraid that would be the case. Guess I just hoped someone had already been there. I thank you for your honest response. Think I'm goining ahead with it and take my chances. Again thank you.

It literally takes 15 minutes to check with some molding clay, it's not an involved process.

Better to check ahead of time rather than waste good parts

Pappy you are going to SMACK the PISTONS. I feel we need intervention in this case. Who's close to Pappy to step in and give him the support to not destroy a ford motor.
