ok hers the specs, fairly stock dove 429, heavy 69 ford galaxie. wide ratio top loader 4spd, 3.25 gear. cruiser car.has the autolight 4300D on it. runs pretty damn good. ive got a holley 650 double pumper that I want to try on it. between the carb pumps and fuel line it wont sit flush on the carb pad. so I'm needing a spacer. its a non egr intake(dove) im thinking of a one inch spacer for clearance.my question is should I do a 4 hole or an open spacer? this is a cruiser stock cam 429. what do you guys think?

I would go with the 4 hole. The set up sounds like a good cruiser. My 429 liked my 750DP much better than a 650DP but, give it a shot.

YES!!!!! I added an HVH 1" CNC tapered spacer to my pure stock , '78 460 and was very impressed with the difference. It idled better and was more powerful .

Ok I totally believe yall. but on the super sucker wouldn't the taper have an issue with fuel hitting the ledge of the carb pad on the intake. kinda like a missed matched port. I would thing if that fuel hit the metal between the holes or the out edges of the holes I would think it would tend to puddle and roll off some times. or would you put it upside down?

You are correct in your thinking about the miss match on the tapered spacer in your application and no you don't want to run it upside down.
Just get a strait 4 hole ot if you want to try and equalize the intake volume a little you can try on of the 3 hole ones.

Could put a 1/2" open under a 1" power cone.
