Fox body shifter and linkage

Post  tiger on December 23rd 2009, 9:02 pm

My stock transmission in my 1984 mustang was a c4, and I was hopeing to use the factory shifter with the c6. Any of you guys use the factory shifter and linkage to hook up to a c6? Do they make some kind of a conversion from a c4 to c6 or can I buy a cable to a b&m shifter and make it work?

I just thought of something, a reverse valve body will do it for me.

Think of this if you take the car to the track and it does not have a positive lock out for Reverse you don't race, so stop Cheaping out and buy a shifter, your life may depend on it some day......and besides if you are that Cheap you can not afford to build a car anways....

Not trying to cheap out at all, just wanted to keep the stock appearance of the car. It will mainly be street driven with about 10 visits to the track a year. That is why I dont want to cut up the car if I dont have to.

then go and read and see if someone has a replacement shifter for your car in an aftermarket set up.... that way you still have the safety aspect and will pass incase you take it to the track.....
