Bench Racing: Highest horsepower N/A 10.3" deck engine combo's

Post  fox331 on January 30th 2010, 8:59 am

Just studying some cylinder head potential, and got to dreaming. I was wondering what is the highest horsepower anyone has gotten out of a 10.3" deck motor?

What about the highest horsepower with a Hemi layout?

Details please, if you are willing to share.

I'd think in a max effort hemi 1600ish wouldn't be out of line n/a. Of course that involves alot of rpm and $$$$. Something in the 690" range.

Is it possible to get 690 out of a 10.3 block?

4.7" bore and 5" arm will get you there, and it can be fit into a 10.3 Eliminator block I believe. Cool

I know the Thor's will go over 1300 hp properly set up, and that is the top of the line in wedge heads for the BBF. Cool

What about the A460's for a slightly more conventional head? What is the highest horsepower anyone has seen out of these heads, especially with their cast tunnel rams?

I think the king of the hill on the A's goes to Phillip Oakley's 604 @ 1100+hp, unless you get ole Hemi's buddy to build you one that did 1300.

Our A head 557" dyno'd 1110hp. So, obviously 1100 is doable...

what about a c-460 headed motor? My c heads peaked at 515cfm and are going on a 598 a460 block about 13.5:1 comp, Nitrous deal, sheet intake and twin 2000cfm throttle bodies.

I had the same combo, c-heads 13:5 compression, sheetmetal and 2 BRE 1200 cfm carbs and made an honest 1200. Are you using a N20 cam with your injection ?

With out a power adder ? Nevermind the details. Is he taking new customers? Please give me his name and number. My cousin has a 604 a-head collecting dust that needs to be completed. Shocked
