66 Mustang front chassis

Post  JigSawMan on August 16th 2009, 9:29 pm

Hi You guys. I was told this might be the place I might see some pictures of what I am trying to accomplish with my 66 Mustang. Essentially, I want to get rid of the inner front fender sheet metal and build a tube chassis that I can get to my big blocker better with. Do one of you guys have some images of something like this?
Thanks,
JigSawMan

Jig,

Building an all tube front clip from scratch is fine if (like Jon) you know how to check for & map out any/all possible front suspension geometry problems. If not then a "store bought" front clip with all the geometry worked out is the way to go.

Yeah I plan a Mustang II suspension for mine so I ought to be fine there. I was just not sure how far I could go with the frame like that. But these help Smile Thanks

i helped a guy set up a deal kinda like the pic's you have.we used fox struts with coilover kit ,fox spindles, ranger rotors, and left the stock lower arms on the car.he machined an adaptor for the lower balljoint cuz it's smaller than the fox.he finished up with a manual rack that worked out ok too.it's a drag only ride so i dont know how it would work on the street but the fox suspinsion with coilover's works good,i've been running them on my car for, hell, before they made a kit for the struts,i used a cheap coilover convert from a dirt car chassis.mine looks like your pic but my frame rails are all tube, not factory tin.good luck with your build!
