It"ll be pretty nuts, I'm sure. Considering my Freelander ported D0VE headed 466 went past that elusive 600hp mark no problem. And considering I really only have about $3500 in my motor, it's not all that hard to do. Very Happy

Project update.

Short Block is together, Going to assemble the heads this coming weekend.

Made a change, decided against the Flat Tappet.... I had a used XE292R ($200?) and Rebuild lifters ($200?) sitting on the shelf along with a set of 954-16 used springs ($50?).

Being that everything is used I'm going to figure I've added an additional $200-$300 to the project. Fair?

Reason for the Change in I'm thinking about putting the engine in my 1984 Drag car and see what it's got...... I'm figuring its about a 130-150# lighter than my A460 headed engine thats in their. That should get the weight of the car down to about 2950 or so with my fat butt in it....

The questing is..............

Project Cheap Skate with a wide ration C6, 4500 convertor and 3.89's or

Project Cheap Skate with a 1.76 Powerglide, 4500 convertor and 4.30's...........

I'm not convinced that a small motor like Project Cheap skate will benifit from a glide, seeing that the car has big tires and is relitivly heavy..... Hummmmmmm......... small tire, probably a different story. What do you think.

if its an 1/8th mile car go with a glide and a 4.86-5.14 gear depending on tire height.

3.89's or 4.30's are what I have to work with right now.

car see's 1/8 and 1/4 mile duty.

Car has 31x14 tires and a 4 link.

gearing a car for 1/4 mile use leaves a bit on the table when running 1/8 mile, optimal gearing for the 1/8 will not allow one to get through the 1/4......... Just how it is.

For both types of racing and using what you have go with the 4.30 gear.
