So, the intake bolt pattern is totally different? I am just trying to learn this stuff so take it easy.

I know small block stuff. That's why I am here is to learn the big block stuff.

Yes intake is different, and I believe the exhaust is raised and therefore different also. All early non EFI heads will interchange, but both versions of the EFI heads are on their own, E7TE and F3TE. I don't know that anyone has a method of adapting a carb manifold to the fuelie heads yet.

Price motorsports makes an adapters to put a carb on the EFI intake, they also make an adapter to put a older carb intake on the EFI heads. what would be the advantages of doing this? could the EFI heads and intake with a carb make as much power as the old stuff?

You learn something new everyday.

If he has to run a cast iron intake what is the best one out there if he wanted to run a carbed combo? Also what kind of flow are guys getting out of cast iron exhaust manifolds.

I have seen a couple of people use the 5.0 mass air ECU stuff somehow. Not sure exactly how they do it but it is OEM stuff.

I would talk to someone from sct or similar and see if they could burn a chip for your specific upgrades.

Look at the quarterhorse if you need to mod your ECM, it gives realtime output and allows you to change any setting instantly, while the engine is running. The basic unit is about $250, I don't know what other parts/software you'll need though.
