HELP '95 460 5spd to C6 Swap

Post  Classic Rocks on April 4th 2010, 4:03 pm

I am building a '95 F350 crawler and have decided to convert it to automatic.
It is complete and running/driving with a 5 spd. manual.
I have a complete rebuilt BBF C6 with torque converter.
What do I need to swap to the auto aside from the usual linkages, cooling, vac kickdown, etc.?
Which flex plate (internally or externally balanced?), starter, etc?
Will my current starter work?
Any additional parts needed?
HELP!

assuming this is the factory engine in the 95 use an externally balanced FP, Starters i think will all work but the later units are supposed to be better.

10-4 on the flexplate.
Externally balanced is what I have found researching ebay with listings that include year ranges on the item for sale.
I have also read that there were some factory gear reduction starters on a few years of 3/4 and 1 tons.
Hopefully you are right on the starter and I can save a few bucks there.

Anyone else have any tips or info?

The trans is out of a 1979 F350.

Does your ZF and all the fixin's have a home? I was just wondering about converting my E4OD to something different, and I want three pedals like a fat kid wants cake!

Thanks,
Pete
