Project Blown Hemi
Alot of folks know I sold everything I had for racing, car, motor, chassis, trailer etc and started over. Actually I do have a set of lifters and valve covers left but thats it.
the new project is in the machine shop, I just called to check on it. Carol carter @ C and C motorsports is prepping the block and heads for us. I guess this is sort of a proven build? Carol says he does alot of these motors.
He is setting the block up to bore the lifter bores out to accept .903 body lifters. He is done with stress releiving.
The bowl, port, pocket work has been done on the heads, they are working on opening up the pushrod hole so it wont rub.
this will be a blown alky motor to run nostalgia Pro COmp in, here around the Midwest there is a series. AND maybe run a little top sportsman @ an NHRA event or two.
We havent decided on CID yet, many options since the block is sleeved.
Stroke will be short, due to the blower on top. keeps flex down on the crank, crank lives longer. Apparently blowers are hard on cranks Who knew?
Crank is a 4.125 Velasco billet, Mopar flange in the rear, big block chevy snout.
Mopar rod journals, this takes advantage of the many choices of rod bearing for blown apps.
Block is the aluminum C and C version 10.5 deck, not the sportsman that uses stock pan etc, the other one, which is why I sold my Danny bee. I'll be using the old alan root style gear drive and aux drive for the dry sump and magneto.
it also has a different oil pan., this block also has no provisions to run water.
the heads are almost done, all they have left to do is clearance the pushrod holes for larger than ordinary pushrods. Carol has already done the port and bowl work. I did not have him put my paticular heads on the flow bench since it is the same CNC program he runs on most of the race prep hemi heads flow will be typical of what the others are.
these heads are also waterless. Jesel provides the rockers. Carol has the Boss Valve covers.
the blower intake is one of Carols and will have to be cut down from the 11.2 deck to the 10.5 deck block size.
We will do that here locally.
Have not bought pistons or rods yet, but will probably get the Arias pistons Carol uses in most of his combos. Rods will be MGP's
The old blower is junk, cracked rotors, the replacement blower is an Oddy's prepped 14-71 Hi helix polished littlefield, thats about all there is to that, nuttin special just alot of hot air. I briefly considered a 16-71 I saw that JR @ RBS superchargers had but that would knock the car out of ANY NHRA events. rules only allow up to a 14-71.
Only thing I will be using off the old induction system is the Buzzard catcher and nitro/alky Enderle barrel valve.
I have a mag 12 set up but Im on the look out for a complete mag 44.
We will need 1800hp to run the index of 7.0 with my new chassis that andy is building. Carol says the new motor could put up 2400 depending on the blower condition.
so maybe it will run a smidge under the index, we hope anyway. It will be strange to actually be able to make the show and not be on the other end of the bubble.
I just hope nothing messes up!
I'll get pictures next week when alot of the stuff arrives from C and C.

Re: Project Blown Hemi
When did they cast this block?
My solid race blocks accept 18 bolt heads and yours not.

Re: Project Blown Hemi
Frank,
We arent running 18 bolt heads. Hemi head has standard number of bolts. I guess that's only an issue with Wedge heads? anyone got some insight on why this is?
dont know when it was cast, its a new block though.

Maybe the Boss heads are more rigid because of thier size/shape?
Damn nice looking parts.
