Re: Crank pilot
I won the Bash 2 years in a row without one in my Mustang Harold . I used the one I had in the Tbird , i just started all 3 bolts in the convertor and flywheel without snugging them down and rotated it to try to center as best as possible .Then tightened them . I don't recommend it ,but it can be done.

Re: Crank pilot
i'm sure an sfi flexplate would help if you did run it like it is,less flex, but it's too easy to fix to not.i dont know why any trans company would tell you to run it,unless they would like to sell you some parts after you shit can your's.

Re: Crank pilot
I've dealt with Craig quite a few times over the years...it kinda surprises me that he would tell you to run it like that. Sounds like Mikey has you fixed up...you better be sure to give him a big wet kiss.

Re: Crank pilot
Harold, I have never ran a pilot spacer. Been running 598" BBF/PG combos since '96 and have never had an issue.
Although I have ran others, Coan has always been my converter of choice.

Re: Crank pilot
Do you have a small convertor, and the large crank diamametor s/p?

8" and 9" converters, but with a thick midplate. I'm not saying its a bad thing, just that I havent had any problems not having the converter meet up with the crank.

Thanks Curt, I might just try it, I hate to take the tranny out again, it is a major job.
