How old are your tires?
I was just reading thru these posts and the first thing that comes to mind are slicks. How old are your slicks and how many passes are on them? I've seen this happen twice on my Dad's old car (Fox body with 4 link). Once with Goodyears and most recently with a set of Hoosiers. When the tires got too old one side started hooking better than the other. The car would turn right on launch and the 60 fts. became very inconsistent. We started looking at pre-load and everything else. Finally just put new tires on it and it started going straight as an arrow again. It was going straight last year but at the beginning of this year is started turning on launch. Put a new set of Hoosiers on it and it started going straight again. Just a thought.

yeah we really need a new set of slicks on the car just cannot afford them right now. The tires are probably 4-5 seasons old and we had to switch back to our old set. We bought a used set of Phoenix slicks but they just would not hook at all and would not smoke much either, so we put the old slicks back on the car for this past test-n-tune. We had a set of new slicks off ebay the other day but got outbid at the last moment, but we really need to get a new set soon as I think that will help pick the car up a little also!

If in fact the slicks are dead, then any more track testing, brain storming, or speculating is pretty much a waste of time until you get new shoes.
But if they are still good, and you know they do actually hook (from video evidence, not a "seat of the pants" feeling) then you can move on to other possible causes for the inconsistency.

took the car out Friday night for another T-N-T. Changed from old slicks to a set of new slicks went from 13x31 to 29.5x13.5. Here are the 4 passes for the night. We never changed the timing set at 30. We had ran quite a bit of different timing last couple of times out and it would slow down at 29 and 31 so 30 seemed right. 330ft was broke for the night at the track.
60ft 594 660et 660mph
1. 7.5lbs in slicks 1.321 5.650 6.040 115.35
2. 7.5lbs in slicks 1.350 5.660 6.050 115.14
3. 9lbs in slicks 1.341 5.671 6.063 114.79
4. 8 lbs in slick 1.341 5.677 6.069 115.06
Overall the best times the car has ever ran but we are tired of chasing this thing and wasting time to actually get to run, so we are going to try and change over to Alky and the car should run the 6 index class easily!
thanks,
Doug
